Accessibility Statement
In one line: What we do to make AskPinoy usable by everyone, what we know still falls short, and how to tell us when something doesn't work for you.

Our commitment
AskPinoy is for the whole community: lola with her reading glasses, a kababayan using a screen reader, someone on a cracked phone on the bus. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA across the site.
What we do
- Keyboard. Every core flow (searching, opening a listing, adding a business, claiming, reviewing, reporting) works with a keyboard alone.
- Screen readers. Ratings are text ("4.7 out of 5, 12 reviews"), not just stars. "Verified", "Featured" and licence lines are text, never colour or an icon alone. The Verified badge opens as a list you can read item by item.
- Maps have words. Every map has a text equivalent: the address and a directions link when the address is public, or a plain description of the area served when it isn't.
- Language. Pages declare their language, and Tagalog text inside an English page (or the reverse) is marked so a screen reader pronounces it right.
- Forms. Every field has a label. Errors are announced and say what to fix.
- Touch. Buttons and links are big enough to tap.
- Testing. Automated accessibility checks (axe) run on every page in our test suite before a change ships. A change with a serious violation doesn't go live. We also check Lighthouse accessibility scores on every release.
Known gaps
We're small, and we'd rather be honest. As of this date:
- The map on business pages comes from Google. The map image has a text alternative and the embedded map is labelled, but the map itself is Google's, and we can't change how it behaves with assistive technology. The text address or area description is always there.
- The bot check on forms comes from Cloudflare (Turnstile). It usually needs no interaction. If it ever blocks you, email us and we'll take your submission by email.
- Photos. Photos are described by the caption the business gives them. Some have only a short or generic description.
- Tagalog. The Tagalog version of the site is still being translated. Some pages and buttons will appear in English.
- This is a new site. We'll find things we missed. Tell us.
Tell us
If anything on AskPinoy is hard to use, or you'd like information in another format, email ramuel@askpinoy.com with the page and what happened. We reply within 5 business days and fix what we can. You can also write to 33 Cathy Jean Cres., Etobicoke, ON M9V 4T2, Canada.
